Wedding dress by Monique Lhuiller, earrings by David Walter. Daniel eagerly awaits his first look. The wedding party and Katherine and Daniel’s families gather on the porch of their 200-year-old home. The bridal party. Daniel’s team. Daniel’s parents and Katherine’s mom arrive at the ceremony on the west lawn. Katherine and Daniel were so happy, not only to be getting married, but also because all their family and friends were gathered in one place. The always-wonderful Betsy Bates performed the ceremony with her usual grace and humor. As Katherine placed the ring on Daniel’s finger, Betsy asked her to repeat the words “Wear this ring as a sign of. . .” and Katherine said to Daniel, “WEAR THIS RING!” It was a moment. The first of many kisses, and the breaking of the wine glass. This may be a good moment to bring up how cool Daniel’s suit is. The cellist played throughout the cocktail hour, while the pianist soaked in the beautiful music and the setting sun. Betsy celebrates with a friend. Katya, Katherine’s maid of honor, had been teasing all day that she might not see Katherine as much now that she’s married. So why not propose? Katya, by the way, is also married and it hasn’t seemed to hurt their friendship too much. Daniel’s family has a tradition with this hat, which you may have noticed his dad was wearing at the ceremony. The goal is to get a picture of any number of different people wearing the hat. This tradition kept me busy through the night. So did Katherine’s delightful bridesmaids in gorgeous dresses. The hat keeps moving. Katherine and Daniel have renovated their barn as a potential wedding venue, and it is spectacular. Katherine’s bouquet on the mantelpiece at the house. All the flowers, by Green Mountain Floral Arts, were a centerpiece of the day. Katherine’s mom recalling some moments from her daughter’s formative years. The best man has some stories about Daniel, some of which Daniel’s parents had never heard. Katya accepting due credit for Katherine’s move to Vermont and her subsequent marriage to Daniel. Daniel’s mom has some stories that the best man may not have heard. Daniel’s dad proposes a toast to his son and new daughter-in-law. Two trained dancers do their first dance. Katherine’s dance with her mom is followed by an amazing guitar solo her brother had composed for the occasion. Daniel dances with his mom. The talent represented in the wedding party was crazy good. Great vocals, Daniel’s band rocked it, and the guests knew how to dance. Katherine and members of the bridal party take the stage. Enjoying a break outside on a beautiful Vermont evening. Dancing and quiet conversations on the hay bale loveseats. Katherine and Daniel literally worked for years to renovate their home and barn for this special day. It was absolutely all worth it. Katherine and Daniel set their champagne glasses down so I could take one last set of portraits in their 1962 GMC pick-up. Congratulations you two! Thank you for the joy of being with you on your perfect wedding day!
